ABOUT MIRAAJ GAMES
A browser arcade built from scratch — classic games, original implementations, and the kind of polish that makes a quick session at lunch feel worth coming back to.
Why this exists
The retro games most of us grew up with — Tetris, Snake, Pac-Man, Sudoku, Minesweeper, Battleship — are scattered across hundreds of low-effort sites. Each one a different layout, none of them remembering your scores, most of them wrapped in pop-up ads and broken on mobile.
Miraaj Games started as a personal project to bring the classics under one roof, give them a consistent look and feel, and add the things modern players expect: real accounts, leaderboards that persist, a profile that tracks what you’ve played, and multiplayer that actually works in the browser.
What you’ll find here
- Singleplayer classics. Tetris, Pac-Man, Snake, Space Invaders, Sudoku, Minesweeper, Crossword, Memory Match, Flappy Bird, Crossy Road, Sky Jump, Wordle, and more.
- Multiplayer games. Tic-Tac-Toe, 8-Ball Pool, and Battleship — play live against another person with in-game chat.
- Per-game leaderboards. High-score games, best-time games, and daily-reset challenges (like Wordle) all use the ranking format that actually makes sense for that game.
- A real profile.Stats across every game you’ve played, friends, messages, customizable theme and display mode that sync across devices.
- Daily challenges. Wordle picks one word per UTC day from a live English-dictionary corpus — everyone plays the same word, you get one attempt, the leaderboard rolls over at midnight.
How it’s built
Miraaj Games is built on Next.js 16 with a custom Node.js server that combines HTTP routing with WebSockets for real-time chat. Data is persisted in Postgres (via Neon serverless) and accessed through the Drizzle ORM. Authentication is handled by NextAuth v5 with JWT sessions. The whole thing runs on a single AWS EC2 instance behind Caddy as a TLS-terminating reverse proxy, with operational telemetry flowing through Amazon CloudWatch.
Everything here was designed and built by one person, end to end — front-end, back-end, infrastructure, and ops. If something feels off or a game has a bug, the contact form goes straight to me.
Principles
- No dark patterns. No autoplay video ads, no “sign up to play” gates on singleplayer games, no fake notification badges.
- Your data is yours.Delete your account from the profile page and it’s gone — account record, messages, gameplay history, stats.
- Performance matters. The platform runs on a small EC2 instance and stays snappy because the server code does only what’s needed per request.
- Ads support the cost of running it. That’s it — they exist so this stays free for you, not so we can squeeze every pixel.
What’s next
The roadmap includes more original multiplayer titles, a ranked Elo system for competitive players, daily challenges beyond Wordle, and a friends-only private game mode. If you want to suggest something specific, drop a feature request via the contact form.
